In case you guys missed it, Inman News just published an interesting piece on how the Myers-Briggs personality test can help agents hone in on a viable niche. It’s a different take on a personality test that employers and other organizations have been using for years, but with a real estate twist.

Here’s a quick snapshot of the main personality types (you’ll have to take the test to get yours) and how they translate into real estate:

🦋 The Social Butterfly: The networker and people person

Good fits: First-time homebuyers, relocation clients, community-centered sales

📊 The Detail-Oriented Organizer: The analytical type

Good fits: Investors, luxury buyers, commercial real estate

🧩 The Problem Solver: The strategic thinker

Good fits: FSBOs, expired listings, divorce and probate sales

❤️ The Empath: The heart-centered helper

Good fits: Seniors, downsizers, estate sales, military and service families

🎨 The Creative Visionary: The marketer and innovator

Good fits: Luxury homes, new construction, design-centered clients

🐺 The Lone Wolf: The independent go-getter

Good fits: Rural properties, land sales, FSBOs and investor partnerships

I like how this gives agents another way to think about something I cover in my book, The Real Estate Agent’s Business Planner: figuring out who your ideal client is, finding a niche and building your marketing around the people you’re best suited to serve.
