What Smart Entrepreneurs Can Learn from Gen Z

Gen Z isn’t waiting for permission. They’re starting businesses earlier and faster than any generation that came before them. A couple of years ago Samsung and Morning Consult did a survey and found that 50% of Gen Zers want to become entrepreneurs or start their own businesses.

These aspiring entrepreneurs top out at 28 years old now, and they grew up watching traditional career paths change overnight. Here’s what the rest of us can learn from them:

  • Move fast when it’s called for. Gen Z doesn’t overthink the first step. They test, adjust and keep going. Progress matters more than perfection.

  • Work with the resources in front of you. Most start small and online, using free tools, side income, and social reach to grow. They understand that momentum builds credibility.

  • Build in the open. This TikTok generation cut its teeth on social media. Instead of hiding their early work, they share it. This transparency builds trust and community, both of which help fuel business growth.

  • Stay adaptable and agile. They see change as part of the plan, not a setback. When something doesn’t work, they pivot without hesitation.

Now, Gen Z might have youth on their side, but experience still counts. Combine their speed, agility and drive with your expertise and you’ll have the perfect combination.
